The family of a toddler who died after a television fell on him at his Millcreek home this week has set up a memorial account.
Samuel Mason, 18 months, died Monday, one day after he was rushed to Primary Children's Medical Center in critical condition with head trauma.
An account has been set up at Wells Fargo Bank locations under the name "Samuel Mason Memorial Benefit Fund."
Samuel was buried during a private memorial service attended by family, his father said Friday.
The 18-month-old was in a room with three other children -- all younger than 5 -- at a Millcreek apartment complex near 200 East and 4100 South. They were playing around 9:30 a.m. when a television got knocked off of a stand and onto the boy's head, said Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office Lt. Don Hutson.
The boy's parents were home at the time of the incident.
Hutson called the event a "tragic accident." The family was accustomed to having small children and had taken safety precautions to child-proof the home, he said.
Hutson encouraged parents to double-check that heavy objects around the home are secure so they cannot easily fall.
