Court docs detail couple's vicious

accused of strangling her own daughter to get back at her boyfriend is behind bars. The woman's boyfriend was arrested
last week. He's accused of beating the woman's four-year-old son so badly, he's now in coma. Greenwood police
were first tipped off to the abuse when the mother brought her son to the hospital with severe head injuries. When police
were questioning her about the abuse, she first denied it, but later admitted both she and her boyfriend beat the children.
Greenwood police say the abuse has been going on for at least 17 months. Johnson County Prosecutor Brad Cooper said
it's something he's never seen before. Cooper said Jesse Pacheco and his girlfriend Jessica Arrowood would regularly
abuse at least two of Arrowood's children whenever they were mad at each other. Arrowood is now under arrest for allegedly
severely beating her five-year-old daughter, Alea. Greenwood Police Department Commander Matt Fillenwarth said, "Alea
was Pacheco's favorite and Arrowood would beat her to get back at him. She would pick the little girl up by her hair,
choke her and then throw her around the room." The probable cause affidavit said Arrowood had, "snatched Alea
up by her hair, picked her up by her throat one-handed, threw her like a rag doll and wrapped her arms around Alea's throat." Police
said the last time Arrowood strangled her daughter was the day before Pacheco beat the four-year-old within inches of his
life. Court records detail the incident saying, "Alea stopped screaming and turned blue when Jessica began choking
her...(Jessica Arrowood) threw Alea across the room." Police say Arrowood also hit four-year-old Raymond. Investigators
believe abuse against the boy could've been caught before he was hospitalized. Court documents say the daycare center
Raymond went to saw the marks on him and told Jessica that they "wouldn't report her this time."
An
administrator at Kid Co. Childcare Inc. initially denied neglecting the signs of abuse but then, a few mintues later, she
changed her tune. "The police was in on this, CPS was in on this, everything was done," she claimed. "I'm
not arguing with you." Greenwood police said they will be investigating the daycare. Pacheco and Arrowood
are both in jail on battery and neglect charges. Arrowood also faces strangulation charges. The children are with child
protective services. Police are investigating whether the other two children were also abused. The four-year-old is
still at Riley hospital in critical but stable condition.

police are looking for a man accused in a double shooting that left the mother of his child in critical condition and her

been shot multiple times, along with her sister, Tiffany Wray, 21, in a home at 5419 E. 42nd St., said Indianapolis police
Lt. Jeffrey Duhamell. Officers found Tiffany Wray dead in a bedroom, with her 1-year-old
daughter lying near her. Quanita Wray was transported to Wishard Memorial Hospital in critical condition, Duhamell said. Marco
Robinson is wanted in connection with the shooting. Police said he has at least one child with Quanita Wray and that
the couple had a history of domestic disputes. Investigators recovered Robinson's vehicle
shortly after 2 p.m. Saturday. He is described by police as black, 28 years old and 250
pounds. Duhamell said Robinson had cut his hair. He recently had a restraining order filed against him. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call police or
Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS. At first, police thought that three boys -- ages 2, 4 and
6 years old -- had been taken from the home after the shooting, but it was later determined that they had spent the night
at a relative's home. They were located just after noon, Duhamell said. All of the
children were taken into custody of Child Protective Services.

beaten for more than hour. Authorities describe 14-month-old Lilianna Goodman's injuries as unstable and extremely critical.
On Thursday, police arrested 18-year-old Tayuan Chism, the mother's live-in boyfriend.
"The
14-month old girl was beaten with a belt for a period of 1 to 2 hours for disciplinary issues specifically that being not
eating her food and failure to respect the suspect. So as a result of his feeling that he was disrespected, he has beaten
the child for that duration," said IMPD Spokesman Paul Thompson.
Police believe Chism was angry, very angry.
They say he beat Lilianna for not eating her food and failure to respect him.
Lilianna was taken to the Peyton
Manning Children's Hospital at St. Vincent. Police believe Chism beat her mother, Rachel Goodman as well. But her injuries
are not life threatening. 24-Hour News 8 located her Thursday at her apartment. She was
refused to talk to News 8, but her friend did. "She's emotional, she's alright
right now, she's dealing with it the best way that she can," said Kareem Kubisty, a family friend.
Domestic
violence experts said abusers often exhibit a pattern of escalation that can be deadly.
"Usually there's
a period of building tension until it explodes into some kind of outburst violence or some other kind of abuse," said
Betsy Whaley, The Julian Center.
Police said in addition to the mother, there were two adults and a juvenile at
the home at the time of the beating. Right now, Chism is the only one being charged.
Evansville couple accused of child abuse
March 5, 2009 EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - An Evansville couple accused of beating a 14-month-old child is behind bars. Vanderburgh County Sheriff's deputies arrested the child's mother, Crystal Riley, 30, and stepfather
Michael Robertson, 25, after the two admitted to hitting and neglecting the child, Jasmine Riley, before
taking her to Deaconess Hospital. Sgt. Doug Daza said Jasmine suffered bruising on her
head, paralysis on the right side of her body, and bleeding on the brain. Sheriff's
deputies took both parents in for questioning, and Robertson admitted he caused the bruises on the child's body as well
as the brain injury. Robertson faces two B class felonies of battery of a child under
14 and neglect of a dependent with serious bodily injury. Riley faces a charge of neglect
of a dependent also a B class felony. Bond has been set at $25,000 for Riley and $50,000
for Robertson. They will appear in superior and circuit court on Tuesday. Riley has two other children. Jasmine is in critical condition at a local
hospital.

AVON, Ind. - Avon
police say one couple went too far in disciplining their child. When they were arrested Monday, the couple told detectives
they knew what they were doing was wrong. Police accuse Jennifer Davidson and her boyfriend
Larry Hensley of beating Davidson's three-year-old daughter with a leather belt. The couple is accused of administering
the beatings after smoking marijuana. The incident apparently started after the toddler
lied about kicking covers off her bed. "He knew the three-year-old was lying and spanked
her until she told the truth," said Avon Police Department Detective Sean Stoops. Police
said, a few days after the beating, the couple took the child to a scheduled doctor's appointment. The doctor found serious
bruising on both sides of the girl's body, from the top of her chest down to her ankles. "At
one point, she didn't want to leave the hospital. She wanted to go home with the doctor," said Detective Stoops. 24-Hour News 8 tried to speak with the Davidson and Hensley, but they declined an interview. The pair confessed
to police the abuse had been going on for at least two years. Dr. Cortney Demetris at the
Children's Hospital at St. Vincent warned that the kind of abuse that Hensley and Davidson are accused of could lead to
serious injury and even death. Doctors actually recommend against any form of spanking,
with or without a belt. At St. Vincent, they formed a special child abuse protection team.
Doctors say they see at least 30 cases of child abuse every month. The team is working to reduce that number by telling parents
about other ways to discipline their kids. "Parents who focus on maintaining a positive
relationship with their children, that's a good starting point. Having a good relationship allows the child to want to
please the parent," said Dr. Demetris. The three-year-old's older sister didn't
show any signs of abuse. Both children are in foster care right now. Hensley and Davidson are out of jail on $5,000 bond.
They're facing battery, neglect of a dependent and possession of marijuana charges.

MUNCIE,
Ind. (WISH) - A Muncie woman and her boyfriend are behind bars after allegedly giving alcohol to an 11 month old baby. Police
say the little boy's blood alcohol level was 0.118. Investigators call this the epitome of irresponsible parenting.
The couple claims the boy accidentally drank the alcohol but detectives say this was no accident. Empty beer bottles
sit just feet away from the home at 30 Mulberry Street. This is where investigators say 19-year old Amanda Elbert lived with
her son and boyfriend, Edward Williams "I don't think they realized the magnitude of this. The child could
have died from this," said Lt. Al Williams with the Muncie Police department. Investigators say the eleventh month
old's blood alcohol level was .118. "Which is well over the legal limit for an adult for drinking and driving,"
Lt. Williams Investigators say the baby's father took the child to the hospital after he noticed the boy
was unresponsive Wednesday night. "We'll never really know the long term effect it's had on the child.
The child appears to be fine now. But lets hope that this isn't a long term effect that the child will be going through
for sometime," Lt. Williams said. The little boy is now living with his father. Elbert and Williams are being
held at the Delaware County Jail.

Indy man faces four counts in the crime.
INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man accused of molesting a 5-year-old girl also infected the child with a sexually
transmitted disease, authorities allege.
Marion County prosecutors filed four counts of felony child molesting
against Jose Luis Oviedo, 30, after the girl described touching and sexual activity to investigators, according to a probable-cause
affidavit.
Cultures taken from the girl at an Indianapolis hospital tested positive for the herpes virus, the affidavit
says. A witness in the case also told police Oviedo has herpes, the document states.
The girl told an interviewer
that Oviedo, who faces an arrest warrant with a $200,000 bond, had threatened to kill her mother if she told anyone, the affidavit
says.
The alleged sexual contact between Oviedo and the girl occurred in late January. The child's grandmother
later found lesions on the girl's body and became suspicious, the affidavit says.

woman lied about the name of a man accused of molesting and giving herpes to her 5-year-old daughter, helping him to elude
police, the Marion County prosecutor's office said Wednesday. Crystal Newton, of Indianapolis, was charged Wednesday with
three felonies and one misdemeanor relating to allegations that her 30-year-old boyfriend, Jose Luis Oviedo, molested
her daughter in January.
Police said they still are looking for Oveido, who was charged on Feb. 7 with four
felony counts of child molestation. "In part due to Newton's help,
Oviedo has avoided arrest," the prosecutor's office said in a press release.
The charges accuse Newton of:
Telling investigators on Jan. 29 -- about a day after the girl told police that Newton's
boyfriend "Jose" molested her -- that Jose's last name was Sabrina.
Declining
to seek medical attention for the girl for two days after she showed signs of having herpes.
Allowing
Oviedo to be in a home with the child on Jan. 29, after the molestation allegations were made, despite the fact Newton had
signed an agreement with social workers that the child wouldn't have contact with Oviedo.
Telling the girl to tell police that the molestation didn't happen and threatening to "whoop"
the girl if she didn't lie.
The girl was treated at an Indianapolis hospital on Jan. 27 after her grandmother found
lesions on her body, authorities said. The girl told police that Newton's boyfriend had molested her, and a witness in
the case told police that Oviedo has herpes, authorities said.
Newton gave an investigator Oviedo's real name on
Jan. 31, about an hour after child welfare workers removed Newton's children from her custody, police said in a probable
cause affidavit.
Newton was charged with a felony count of obstruction of justice, two felony counts of neglect of a
dependant, and a misdemeanor count of intimidation.
Oviedo is Hispanic and about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about
250 pounds. Police said he drives a white, 1990s-model minivan with a cracked windshield.
Oviedo has been frequently
seen in the 2000 block of East Michigan Street, the 4100 block of East Hoyt Avenue and 600 block of North Hamilton Street,
according to police.

INDIANAPOLIS
(WISH) - Police interrupted a little girl's funeral Wednesday morning in order to arrest her father. Police arrested
James Michael Booher for felony child neglect. His four-year-old daughter, Makayla, was shot and killed by her five-year-old
brother last weekend. Police said the gun was Booher's. His son got it from the top shelf of a bookcase.
There was only one bullet inside the chamber. "He knows he shouldn't have had the gun there, especially within
reach of Devon. He took the clip out and he thought that was enough," said Booher's brother, Tony Lechner. Police
made the arrest at the funeral because they believe he's a flight risk. The family wishes police would've waited
a little longer before arresting Booher. "They didn't even wait until they put her in the ground until they
took him out," said James' mother, Teresa. This isn't the first time Booher has been in trouble with the
law. According to a 2004 police report, Booher's kids were taken away because of alleged abuse. A doctor
at Riley Hospital said Makayla had broken ribs. Booher's family just hopes other gun owners can learn
from his mistake. "Sometimes when you think it's the safest, double check," said Teresa. Booher
is in jail without bond and his other children are in foster care. The Marion County Prosecutors Office expects to file
charges against him Thursday.

Cops: Dad Forced Daughter To Kill Pet Cat
Police Say Indiana Man Wanted His Children To "Learn How To Kill"
(AP) A man was jailed Thursday on charges he forced his
7-year-old daughter to kill the family cat by holding a knife in her hand and making her stab the pet. Danield J.
Collins, 39, told his children during a visit to his home on Sunday that he wanted them to "learn how to kill" and gave his
11-year-old son a knife to do it, according to an affidavit filed in the case. The boy tried to save the cat by hiding
it under a sofa bed and putting ketchup on a knife when Collins went to the bathroom. But when the father realized the cat
was not dead, he forced his daughter to hold the knife and then held her hand tightly as he drove the knife into the animal,
Muncie police Detective Jami Brown said. Police said Collins stabbed and strangled the cat himself, and told his son
to throw the dead pet in the trash. Officers retrieved the carcass to be used as evidence. The children told family
members on Monday, the day after the alleged killing, according to the affidavit. The children told police their father was
drunk when they arrived at his home and that he's a different person when he's drunk, it said. The siblings live with their
grandparents. Collins was being held in the Delaware County Jail on $40,000 bond. He's charged with one count each
of animal cruelty and battery and two counts of neglect of a dependent. The battery charge alleges the girl was injured because
Collins held her hand so hard that her hand ached. The jail had no record of an attorney representing Collins and
there were no published phone listings for him in Muncie. Muncie police Detective Jami Brown said the case was particularly
troubling because Collins involved his children in killing the cat, an 8-month-old tuxedo type-cat named Boots. "I've

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (AP) -- A pilot took his 8-year-old daughter up in a small plane Monday and crashed it into
his former mother-in-law's house in southern Indiana, killing himself and the girl, authorities said.
A preliminary crash investigation leads "us to believe that this was an intentional act," Indiana State Police spokesman
1st Sgt. Dave Bursten said.
The crash in Bedford, about 20 miles south of Bloomington, killed Eric Johnson, 47, of Bedford, and his daughter Emily,
Bursten said. Emily did not go to school Monday, and Johnson's ex-wife, Beth Johnson, went to Bedford police headquarters
about 11:30 a.m. to say she believed he might have abducted the girl, Bursten said.
That was about 45 minutes after the Cessna crashed into the residence of Eric Johnson's former mother-in-law, Vivian Pace,
Bursten said.
"It is just gut-wrenching to think about what was happening to that child just prior to the crash," Bursten said Monday
night at a news conference in Indianapolis.
Father and daughter had been on a trip together, but Beth Johnson expected the girl to be in school by Monday morning,
Bursten said.
"She had a feeling this morning something was wrong," Pace told WISH-TV in Indianapolis.
Authorities will not know for sure whether the crash was intentional until the National Transportation Safety Board completes
its investigation, which could take up to a year, Bursten said.
State police had no record of disputes between the Johnsons, Bursten said.
Earlier, before the pilot was identified as a relative, Pace told The Times-Mail newspaper that she was in the living room
of her one-story home when the plane struck the side of the building. She said everything fell off the walls.
She said she had heard a plane making a "horrible noise" before the crash.
The crash happened near Virgil I. Grissom Municipal Airport, where the plane had been leased, state police Cpl. Eric Dunn
said.
Witnesses said the plane appeared to be trying to land when it veered sharply and went out of sight, The Times-Mail reported
on its Web site.
There were no reports of injuries on the ground, though the impact left much of the plane lodged inside the house.

Dad suspected of stabbing 11-month-old son'Knife was buried all the way to the handle' in baby's back, police
say
Updated: 1:24 p.m. ET March 15, 2007 INDIANAPOLIS - A man stabbed his 11-month-old son in the back, threw
the boy out the car window with the kitchen knife stuck in his back and then drove away, police said Thursday. His 5-year-old
son managed to escape unharmed.
“He was conscious, but the knife was buried all the way to the handle,” said Speedway Detective
Jim Thiele. The boy, Devin Chandler, was in stable condition at a hospital Thursday.
Officers had found Kevin Chandler’s car but were searching for him. Thiele said Chandler is homeless
and had been staying with some friends or family. Police think 31-year-old Chandler and the boy’s mother, Angela Limbrock,
were arguing as they prepared to leave Limbrock’s apartment on the west side of Indianapolis Wednesday night.
Limbrock handed Devin to Chandler so she could retrieve his car seat inside the home. As she left the car,
she heard Chandler swear at the boy and turned around to see him throw Devin out of the car window, according to a police
report. When Limbrock picked up her son, she saw a knife in his back, the report said.
She ran back to the home, where residents called for an ambulance.
“We’re still trying to determine motive here, but at this point I have no reason to believe he
did this to get back at the mother or anything,” the detective said.
Speedway Police Capt. Charles Upchurch said Thursday that the department will ask prosecutors to issue an
arrest warrant if they do not locate Chandler.
“I don’t know why anyone would want to harm an 11-month-old baby,” Morgan said.
Chandler has been arrested several times for crimes including domestic battery, auto theft and driving while
intoxicated, records show. He served time in an Indiana prison for cocaine possession and carrying an unlicensed firearm near
school property, records show.
In 2005, police arrested Chandler after he allegedly kicked Limbrock in the head and body.
